Admissions

School published admission number 2025/26: 60

Number on roll (September 2024): 168

There is no guarantee of a place for children living in the priority admission area.

In the event of oversubscription, places will be allocated using the following criteria in the order given:

·  Looked after children and previously looked after children (as defined in the Primary Education in Essex 2025/26 brochure – linked below)

·  Children with a sibling attending the school or St Michael’s Junior school

·  Children living in the priority admission area

·  Remaining applications

In the event of oversubscription within any of the above criteria, priority will be determined by straight line distance from home to school, those living closest being given the highest priority.

Galleywood Infant School provides for the full-time admission of all children from the September following their fourth birthday.  It is our policy to phase admission to the Foundation Stage over the first 5 days allowing all children time to settle happily and become familiar with school routines.  As dates vary each year, the timetable is explained at our meeting for new parents in the summer term prior to admission.

We liaise closely with all feeder playgroups and with St Michael’s Junior School to ensure a happy and smooth transition for children joining or leaving our school.

Please contact Essex County Council Admissions Department for further information.
